1st Purple Ride Report. Ollie (pre-chilled on the 7am ride), Owen, Nick, Mick and I formed the inaugural group, and set out on our tour of some local hills, starting with Clifton, which we declined to repeat, pacing our effort for the next phase to and through Brookhouse. We gave Ollie the chance to tackle Bib Lane, since he is opening the Hillclimb next week. The attraction of an early cafe stop encouraged all on the next climb into Laughton, where we rode direct to Leger Lakes.
After refuelling with coffee and cakes (scone score 9/10, MBa), and with the sun warming our backs, we re-did BIb Lane, and set off homeward down Abbey Lane to Roche Abbey. The steep approach gave Ollie a chain wrap, which was soon sorted, and the Purple Ride gang, exhilarated by knowing the hills were done with, then went Infra-red on the A634, hitting 23mph+ all the way through to Harworth. So enthused were we, that a return from there to Tickhill was refused, and we carried on to Scrooby Top and Bawtry, before tired legs brought us home to TCC. 39 miles and 2450ft of climbing achieved. Purple turned Red in the end. But it was fun.
PS See the relive video posted by Nick - it is a great way to report a ride.
