Trip to the Bay Tree Cafe, Retford

A chilly meet at the cricket club with the forecast a bit iffy. Rain overnight had left many roads if not flooded then hosting big puddles. But we were with Matthew - he would keep us safe (not). It will be fine - it won’t rain till 3 - its cold but will be warmer - who cares lets get going!

Before we set off Paul, who was to lead the first group of 8 reminded us all of the need to cycle safely, specifically to ride behind the wheel in front and try not to creep forward and overlap the wheel in front. He included a one man demo and a personal recollection of the consequence of failure to take heed.

TVC Go-Ride Cycling Coaching

Tickhill Velo Club are to deliver two series of Cycling Tuition Sessions during the Summer Term, at Tickhill St Marys’ School – An ‘After School’ series on Monday evenings, 15.30-16.30 for Key Stage 1 children, beginning on 16th April And a ’Saturday Morning’ series for Key Stage 2 children, 9.30-11.00, beginning on 21st April.

Danum Trophy Cycle Road Race 2018 - Sunday 1st April 2018 – Start 9.50AM

On Sunday April 1st, a promotion by Doncaster Wheelers Cycling Club will bring together a top class field of 70 racing cyclists to take part in a well established cycle race event called the "Danum Trophy Road Race”. Some of the riders will also be taking part in the upcoming “Tour De Yorkshire”. It was first run in 1969 on a course based on Wentworth just outside Doncaster by the Birdwell Wheelers Cycling Club but in recent years the circuit changed to a new circuit based on some of Doncaster's scenic countryside around the villages of High Melton, Cadeby and Sprotbrough . The race will be run over a testing 6 mile circuit to be covered 10 times for a total of 60 tough miles. The race has attracted a top class field of riders with plenty of local riders also hoping to take victory, such as 2015 winner Graham Briggs, Commonwealth games selected rider, Tom Stewart, both riding for JLT condor, Doncasters, Connor Swift riding for Madison-Genesis also brings a strong team as does local pro rider Russell Downing who also brings his newly formed Holdsworth Pro Racing team. They will be taking on many more top riders and teams to compete in this early season classic opener. Sponsorship for the race comes from the 1970 winner of the race, Chris Parkinson, who is supporting the race via his company “Parkinson Dental Cabinets.” Support for the event also comes from the “Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust “ who are providing the headquarters for the race at the Dearne Valley Leisure Centre,Mexbrough, Doncaster. The race starts at 10.00 am from High Melton College and is expected to finish at approximately 12.30 pm.For further information please contact Martin on 01302 769531.
