2021 Scarborough Charity Ride

  • Posted: 12 November 2021

Members of Tickhill Velo met on Thursday 11th November at the Tickhill Cricket Club to present the sponsorship money we collected on our charity ride to Scarborough to the Middleton family. The highlight of the night was the attendance of guest of honour, Ben himself!

Karen, Ben’s mum, explained that this was the first time Ben had been able to attend any social event since his cycling accident in May 2020, so it was a privilege to have him in attendance. The Middleton's are a remarkable family, and the remarkable progress Ben is making is thanks to their hard work and dedication to his rehabilitation.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the event and to everyone who contributed towards the grand total of £4,500, a fantastic effort by all. After the presentation Karen & Steve, Ben’s dad, thanked the club for choosing Ben as this year’s beneficiary and explained that the money would go towards funding the specialist physiotherapy Ben is receiving and potential purchase of a TIGO 552 Trainer, a specialist powered leg and upper body exerciser Ben has been using during his visits to the hospital.

Martin Bagshaw, TVC Chairman, thanked everyone for their fund-raising efforts and announced that plans for the 2022 event were already being discussed.

The fundraing for Ben's rehabilitation goes on and if you would like to lean more and possibly donate this is the link to the Ben's GoFundMe page.
